Photovoltaic cable refers to the cable used for power transmission of DC side circuit in the solar photovoltaic power station system, which has excellent physical characteristics such as high and low temperature resistance, ultraviolet radiation resistance, water resistance, salt fog resistance, weak acid and alkali resistance, aging resistance, flame retardancy, etc.

Most of the conductors are Class V flexible conductors, and tinned oxygen free copper wires are the most common. Products with UL and PSE standards may use non tinned oxygen free copper conductors.

Low smoke halogen-free polyolefin (XLPO for short) is generally selected as the insulation and outer sheath materials. After the sheath is formed, radiation crosslinking process is required to make full use of its material performance advantages. The cable becomes more adaptable to various outdoor environments and enhances its service life.

The shape structure of photovoltaic cable is generally single core round and dual core parallel, and there will be some round multi-core photovoltaic cables in overseas markets. The color of photovoltaic cable is usually black and red for single core, and the insulation is usually black, occasionally with some white insulation; Generally, the insulation layer of dual core photovoltaic wire is divided into black and red, and the sheath color is black. Some sheaths are made of black plus red or white column bars.

Common production standards include TUV, CQC, UL and PSE. TUV is usually required for domestic photovoltaic projects. Of course, CQC certification is also required for some projects. The other two types of certification are mainly used in overseas markets. We will mention TUV certification again. At present, there are two institutions that have certification and issue TUV certificates, one in Rhine and the other in South Germany.

The common models of photovoltaic cables include PV1-F, H1Z2Z2-K, 62930IEC131, etc. These three models were introduced in different periods in response to the technological development of the photovoltaic industry. The difference is not very big, but the main difference is the difference in voltage and flame retardant performance. The performance of the three models increases in turn. At present, the popular product in the market in 2022 is H1Z2Z2-K of EN50618 standard of DC1500V, The rated voltage can better adapt to the current inverter and component products.
